What is the VivAer® Procedure?

The VivAer® procedure is minimally invasive treatment performed in your doctor’s office under local anesthesia to improve your nasal breathing. The treatment allows your doctor to:

  • Remodel soft tissue and cartilage on the side of your nose in an area called the nasal valve.

  • Shrink tissue on structures along the side of your nose called the inferior turbinates. These structures can contribute to nasal airway obstruction.

  • Treat areas of of soft tissue obstruction on your nasal septum called nasal swell bodies. These structures also contribute to nasal obstruction and contestion symptoms.

Prior to start of the procedure, your physician will apply a local anesthetic to the inside of your nose. Once completely numbed, the VivAer® wand is inserted into the nose. Low-temperature radiofrequency energy is emitted from the tip of the wand, to target specific areas on the inside of your nose that are causing your nasal breathing difficulty. You should plan on being in the office for a total of 60 minutes, and patients may return to their regular activities almost immediately.
